Finished: Brooklyn Hat

I finally found time (errr, maybe that should be remembered...) to felt my Brooklyn Hat.

Brooklyn Hat

Despite the expression on my face, I am very pleased with it. I haven't worn it yet - it is way to cold here (-20F with the wind chill) for this style hat even if it is wool!

The pattern is from the Summer '06 issue of Interweave Knits. I used the yarn called for in the pattern - Valley Yarns Berkshire. See the post below for links and further details!

So, hooray! I have my first FO for 2008 and it is still January!

Pre-Felt

My first almost completed project for 2008 is the Brooklyn Cap from Interweave Knits Summer '06. I used the yarn called for in the pattern, Valley Yarns Berkshire from the WEBS booth at Stitches Midwest last year. It was a great quick project; one ball of yarn and a few nights in front of the TV. Just what I need to find my knitting mojo again!

I am going to felt it tonight, and hopefully it will be dry enough for a finished model shot tomorrow. It is cold here and I am looking forward to a new warm hat to wear with my gray wool coat.

Catching up.

I've been gone a lot longer that I had planned, but a lot of things have been happening around here lately. What there hasn't been much of is knitting which is why I haven't posted. There still isn't much knitting, but I am hoping to sit down with it this weekend and finish a few Christmas gifts. (Yikes.)

The biggest thing in my life right now is my new, improved, non-soul-sucking job! During the last few weeks there I have realized how unhappy I had been at my old job, only because now I am not. It is actually a bizarre feeling and I am sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop, so to speak. Things can't be this good without a catch, right? Strangely, in the middle of all this new found happiness I find myself struggling with stress/anxiety/depression issues that I thought I had "fixed" years ago. If I could only stop waiting for the bad part to start!! Also, I think this is why I haven't been knitting, haven't posted, haven't vacuumed, done laundry, slept well, exercised etc. etc. etc. But no worries, I will get through it all eventually.

The other big things we have dealt with both have to do with cars. I am going to stop there and say I will post the stories tomorrow, just so I have something left to write about until I get my knitting act together!
